What Inspired Foodie Fuel?
Like everyone else, COVID hit me hard. As someone who needs to physically get out into the world to be my full, happy self, being isolated for months did numbers on me. I lost my motivation, self-esteem, and, worse of all, joy. While I had always eaten healthy and worked-out, I felt antsy in my own body and couldn’t find a way to get ride of this new icky. Finally, one day when I was doing a bodyweight exercises, I went to my mom sobbing because two minutes couldn’t go by without me starting to cry. Being the amazing mom that she is, she put on her sneakers and said we were going for a walk. She told me that even she was struggling but found that her daily walks helped calm her mind and give her some control over the ickiness. When we got home, I decided to make it my mission to get myself on a better track; and what better way to start than focusing on what I put into my body to make me feel my best?

That, however, is not as easy as it sounds. From diet culture screaming at you to eat less and every new food alternative claiming that it’s healthier than its initial counter part, it’s hard to figure out what foods and routines work best for your personal body and goals. Let me tell you something straight up: you never need to deprive yourself of something, whether that be treats or meals. You deserve to eat just for being alive, and living sometimes calls for chocolate as well as spinach. What’s important is balance and listening to how you are feeling and craving. All these recipes are for inspiration, so never feel like you have to eat these things just because I recommend them. Don’t like eggs? Skip them in my breakfast tacos or replace them with something you do like. Vegetarian? Replace meat with tofu or your preferred meat sub. Even for you carnivores—feel free to use fresh chicken instead of chickpeas. Do what feels best for your body; don’t let my posts, or any post on social media for that matter, make you feel bad or guilty for adapting things to fit your needs.
